* School Teams

Our Club is always willing to run school demos; but after the demos, what next?

Once students have tried Underwater Hockey (or Football) at a demo, some may be interested in going further.  Forming a team like ice hockey, basketball, track & field would be a great idea. The Seals have enough experienced players to coach several High School Underwater Sports teams in and around the city of Saskatoon. Why not your school?

A team gets together at practice two or three nights a week during the season; culminating in a City tournament at term's end.

From there, the Seals can organize "away" games to Calgary, Edmonton or Winnipeg.

Why not? Saskatoon is ideally placed to visit any of these cities. Away games are challenging and fun!

Students,  parents and / or teachers will have to start: We have no direct contacts in the schools.

Once the ball is rolling, the Seals will support and attend administrative and parental meetings, organize practices, provide equipment and coaching.

In the past, we have worked with ED Feehan, Delisle Composite schools; with Walter Murray Collegiate, Evan Hardy Collegiate, Bethlehem Catholic HS, Marion Graham Collegiate, Tommy Douglas Collegiate and even Buena Vista School. These relationships date to 2011, working with schools is nothing new for the Seals

Some background information:

New Zealand is the only country in the world that runs an underwater hockey program through its schools - raising the profile of the sport to a large, young audience and creating a substantial pool of players for NZ teams to be chosen from.

The Roger Bacon Underwater Hockey Team is the only high school underwater hockey team in the United States. They have two squads, varsity and reserve. Requirements to play underwater hockey are to attend practices regularly and to pay quarterly dues.

The Roger Bacon Underwater Hockey Team aims to travel each year in June to compete in the U.S. National Championships. The team also competes in regional tournaments when possible (at such places as Michigan State University and at the University of Guelph in Canada.)

We can make all this available in Saskatoon.  Take a deep breath and try it out!
